چکیده

For visualizing anatomical data sets, 3D techniques like direct volume rendering and surface rendering are well established For joint visualization of 3D data sets describing different properties of the object (like anatomical and functional information), 2D visualization techniques are dominant Hybrid methods play an emerging role Visualizing 2D slices is the most common approach, but: 2D information is quite local Often difficult to understand how different features inside the object are positioned relative to one another Difficult to put features found on a 2D image into global 3D context of the object User is required to mentally reconstruct the 3D context

A Hybrid Method for Segmentation and Visualization of Teeth in Multi-Slice CT scan Images

Introduction: Various computer assisted medical procedures such as dental implant, orthodontic planning, face, jaw and cosmetic surgeries require automatic quantification and volumetric visualization of teeth. In this regard, segmentation is a major step. Material and Methods: In this paper, inspired by our previous experiences and considering the anatomical knowledge of teeth and jaws, we prop...

AFNI: software for analysis and visualization of functional magnetic resonance neuroimages.

A package of computer programs for analysis and visualization of three-dimensional human brain functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI) results is described. The software can color overlay neural activation maps onto higher resolution anatomical scans. Slices in each cardinal plane can be viewed simultaneously. Manual placement of markers on anatomical landmarks allows transformation of ana...

The Benefits and implementations of Diffusion tensor imaging and Neural Fiber Tractography in Brain Surgery

Background and Aim: The methods for detecting brain activation with fMRI, MRI provides a way to measure the anatomical connections which enable lightning-fast communication among neurons that specialize in different kinds of brain functions. Diffusion tensor imaging is able to measure the direction of bundles of the axonal fibers which are all aligned. Besides mapping white matter fiber tracts,...

Stereoscopic three-dimensional visualization applied to multimodal brain images: clinical applications and a functional connectivity atlas

Effective visualization is central to the exploration and comprehension of brain imaging data. While MRI data are acquired in three-dimensional space, the methods for visualizing such data have rarely taken advantage of three-dimensional stereoscopic technologies. We present here results of stereoscopic visualization of clinical data, as well as an atlas of whole-brain functional connectivity. ...

Normal Fusion for 3D Integrated Visualization of SPECT and MR Brain Images

Multimodality visualization aims at efficiently presenting integrated information obtained from different modalities, usually combining a functional modality (SPECT, PET, fMRI) with an anatomical modality (CT, MRI). This chapter presents a technique for 3D integrated visualization of SPECT and MR brain images, where MRI is used as a framework of reference for the display of the SPECT data. Meth...
